… Riddle Gully Runaway is a robust, enjoyable yarn filled with adventure. Banyard gives depth to the plot, exploring themes of self-esteem, forgiveness and the perceptions of others, providing opportunities for readers to think deeply around the topics.

… Riddle Gully Runaway is a story that skips along. It’s fast-paced and funny, packed with action, false leads, adventure and mystery … This is Jen Banyard’s third book and it’s a well-written, humorous and suspenseful read for readers of middle fiction (10 – 12 years). I thoroughly recommend this book.

Buzz Words

… Riddle Gully Runaway is a wild adventure with a clear message about facing your fears, even if running away initially seems an easier option. Recommended for mid- to upper-primary readers.

Aussie Reviews

… The book integrates enough adventure, action and mystery to keep even the most distracted youngsters occupied.

Cockburn Gazette

… A great read for 9 – 12 year olds and although it is the second title in the series (following Mystery at Riddle Gully), it can certainly be read as a stand alone title.

Lamont Books

… An adventure story packed with laughs, this is a perfect read for aspiring sleuths.

OverDrive

… Banyard writes with a sensitivity and humour that adds dimension and accessibility to the story. Both [Mystery at Riddle Gully and Riddle Gully Runaway] manage to tackle some pretty serious subjects with a light-hearted and refreshing voice that at times triggers irresistibly laugh-out-loud moments.

Jen Banyard’s Riddle Gully books are really interesting. They have got a lot of mystery in them that makes it hard to put them down. I really love the characters and their different personalities. Shorn Connery is a sheep whose hilarious love for another sheep called Ear had me laughing for days. With Pollo as a junior journalist and Will and Shorn Connery as her “sidekicks”, any problem in Riddle Gully never goes unsolved. The books are hilarious and had me giggling my guts out.
